¡Hola mi amigos!
This week has been a whirlwind of emotions and all the feels.
It snowed 6 inches last Tuesday night. We woke up and headed outside,
and I said "No way, it is not snowing." But low and behold, it was.
The last week of March, and it snowed. Welcome to Alberta!
We were told that we were supposed to travel in on Wednesday night for
zone conference the next week! I was super pumped because that meant
we were going to stay with Sister McSweeney and Sister Bischoff (who
are some of my favourite sisters ever). Then, everyone in our branch
was telling us that we probably shouldn't go and being the stubborn
person that I am; was telling my companions that the roads weren't
"that bad."
First. The roads were awful.
Second. I really wanted to see sister McSweeney because she's the best.
Third. I was being very prideful.
Anyway, we prayed about it separately and as a companionship to know
what to do for the night. Right then, our branch mission leader calls
us and says, "Do not go. The roads are awful."
So, reluctantly we didn't go. However, my companions and I asked for
blessings. that night, so we went over to our favourite people in
the Branch's home (The Orrs) and had a second supper and all received
blessings. I love the priesthood so much.
So in Thursday we drove in to Edmonton at 7 in the morning to go to
zone conf! It was amazing! We heard from the stake Patriarch and he
talked about how sacred patriarchal blessings are. It was a testimony
strengthening experience for me. I love reading my blessing, and
seeing how much Heavenly Father really knows me.
Okay, so here is the probably the biggest tender mercy of the week.
Last week, I was just feeling down on myself. And I asked Heavenly
Father to help me see the tender mercies all around me. Our mission
President says, "Okay, here is a clip from the district 3."
I get super pumped because I'm like, "OH YEAH, DISTRICT THREE!!!"
(It's about the most exciting thing that missionaries have
entertainment wise)
Then, a very familiar voice comes on, as I am taking notes, so I perk
my head up to see who's voice it could possibly be... LOW AND BEHOLD
IT WAS THE VOICE OF ONE OF MY LIFE LONG FRIENDS, JACE COLBY.
I lost my mind at that point, I was like "Sister McSweeney! Sister
Waite! Sister Gover! Sister DeCoursey! I freaking know him! I know
Elder Colby!!!"
It was honestly one of the best tender mercies ever! I was just
thinking that, "Yes, God does love me. He does know who I am."
At lunch, some of the missionaries said to me, "Sister Fisher, you
know everyone... so exactly, how well do you know the guy from
District 3?"
I felt like saying, "Oh ye of little faith." But instead I said, "Jace
& I literally grew up together."
It's the little things in life that help so much!
It also may be the last time that I get to see sister McSweeney. I was
very emotional after ZC, because she has helped me become the person I
am today. I love that woman so much, and I am very grateful for her.
She has no clue how much she means to me. I am so grateful Heavenly
Father knows us so well, and knows who we need placed in our lives.
God knew I needed Sister McSweeney. I am so grateful for her.
This week has also been a week of miracles!
A member in our ward is dating a mom with 3 kids from Saskatchewan,
and he came up to us on Sunday and said, "Sisters, I need you to start
making a baptismal program for 4 people." His girlfriend surprised him
last week, by telling him that they were all ready to be baptized! If
everything goes as planned, they will be baptized Easter Weekend! I
love the gospel.
Also, Sunday! We were stopping by a less active family who live 30
minutes out of Wainwright! We have been trying to get ahold of them
for sometime now, and so we just decided to stop By that night! THEY
WERE HOME! And they were so friendly! Their little girls name is
Georgia, and she is legit the sassiest 6 year old I have ever met! She
painted my nails and everything! My favourite part about this visit
was when Georgia said, "My Dad's favourite movie is Frozen! And he
hides the DVD case so no one will ruin it."
We all turn to him and say, "is this true?" Keep in mind, he legit
looks like the 'Big Summer Blow Out Guy' from Frozen.
And he says shyly, "Yes.. it is.."
I have so much love in my heart for them! They are amazing people and
I can't wait to meet with them more often!
Yesterday, we were at Mike's home, and we invite him to baptism every
week! He always says, "I will think about it." So this last time when
he said that, my great companion said, "Mike, what are you thinking
about?"
Then boom, we whipped out Mosiah 18:8-10 and resolved his concerns.
Mike is on date for April 29th. π€πΌ
This week I have been studying more and more about the Atonement, and
this is where I get to be Bartok from "Anastasia." I tell you what,
wow. The atonement is so real. Jesus Christ suffered in the Garden of
Gethsemane for me and for each of you. As Doctrine and Covenants
teaches, "The Son of Man has descended below all things, are thou
greater than he?" He is our safety net. He knows what each of us goes
through on a daily basis. If you turn to our Saviour, he can help you.
He knows us. He loves us. He is reaching out with loving arms waiting
for us to grasp onto Him. Please always remember that.
Sorry this email was so long, but I hope you enjoyed it.
