Hello everyone!Exciting news! I hit my year mark last Thursday! It was also sisterArd's birthday, so we had a fun time that day!I can't even remember what really happened this week, but I do knowwhat I learned! This week has been absolutely amazing with learning experiences andwith memories!Yesterday especially was an emotional roller coaster, but I learned so much!So on Sunday we had 3 investigators at church (which is a big dealbecause trying to get people from the res to come to church is aSTRUGGLE). Well, our investigator, Ryan, (who is getting baptized nextweek) came to church. However, the talks that we were being given wereabout the Addiction Recovery Program and we think it may have struck acord with him and he got up and left. Anyway, Ryan also lost his joband got rid of his cell phone this last week too, so yesterday we hada lesson with him, but we weren't able to get ahold of him because hedoesn't have a phone anymore and he moved out to the res and we don'tknow his address... talk about the struggle.. well, it was also thefirst time that's brought Bishop to a lesson as well, and Ryan didn'tshow up.So you know, we automatically think of the worst thing possible. Hegot triggered from those talks in Sacrament meeting, then went homeand started drinking because he isn't interested anymore.Well, Heavenly Father knows the desire of our hearts. We have beengetting phone calls left and right today, so the phone rang for the5th time and I looked at it and said, "Sister, it's a private number, should I answer?" Well, I answered it anyway...Me: "Hello, it's Sister Fisher!"Unknown: "hey"Me: "Pardon? May I ask who I'm-"Unknown: "it's Ryan, I just wanted to apologize about yesterday andtomorrow's session is still on."Me (trying not to freak out): *covers the speaker and whispers*SISTER. IT'S RYAN. HE ISNT DEAD. *uncovers speaker* OH HELLO RYAN! Weare SOOO glad to hear from you!"Boys and Girls. Heavenly Father truly does answer prayers.Anyway, I am so thankful that I have been able to serve the Lord as amissionary for a whole year now. I never want it to end, I want tocontinue to see miracles and see people coming closer to Our Savioureveryday. I want to be able to teach people about the gospel for therest of my life. I want to be able to help people all the time. That'swhy I love being a missionary.I have learned in the last year that faith requires action. In myfavourite Mormon Message "the Hope of God's Light" Todd Sylvestersays, "spiritual light rarely come to those who sit in darknesswaiting for someone to flip a switch. It takes an act of faith to openour eyes to the light of Christ."Our questions are usually not answered just with a snap of ourfingers. It doesn't usually just come with a flip of a switch. Ouranswers can take years of studying and praying. They come more like asunrise, where light comes little by little. Our answers usually comeas we trust in our Saviour.Heavenly Father asks us to jump and he promises catch us.Too many times we say, "How about you catch me then I'll jump."It doesn't work that way. "We receive no witness until after the trialof our faith."I love you all so much & I hope you all have a wonderful week.Sister Lexie Rex Fisher305-8925 51 Ave. NWEdmonton, Alberta T6E 5J3CanadaPics:1. popping' caps up in Wetaskiwin (sorry for my singing)2. Well, by the title of my email, you may have been able to tell, it'sbeen a decently exciting week.A few weeks ago sister Ard kept saying that her head itches, and beingthe person that I am was like, "cool, sometimes my head itches too." Iseriously did not think much of it, however, on Wednesday we weredoing some paper work stuff and sister Ard asked me if I could checkher head for lice, so I am digging through her head like an apelooking for some bugs to eat when I see a little tiny bug. I freakedout and said, "SISTER THERE IS A BUG IN YOUR HAIR." So, we asked Siriwatch lice look like, and screamed our little hearts out. However, Iremember another companionship getting lice so I was searching throughmy email to find pics. Well, while I was doing that, sister Ard movedher head SO THE BUG WAS NO WHERE TO BE FOUND. And as soon as I got thepicture pulled up I screamed again because it looked the exact same!We called sister Pattison, however last week was transfers and theywere in the temple with all the missionaries going home (RIP). So twohours later we get a call saying to launder everything in our houseand to go get some Nix Shampoo which removes nits & lice. Well, thiswas about 7:00 at night that this is all happening, we didn't sleepwell that night because we left there was bugs crawling all over us.So the next day we text President and tell him everything going on andthat we basically had to vacuum & clean everything in our apartment,he was like "Do what you need to Do." Holy goodness, we basicallybleached out whole apartment, ain't no louse surviving in thisapartment.Luckily, we've done a head check everyday and I have not had one lousein my hair, but sister Ard had 6 little friends just chilling with herfor over a week. There was also a HUGE lightning storm this week. It reminded me of thetime where my bestie, Ashley Margaret Hayes, and I would just sit andtry to catch a picture of lightning outside of her house. I love her.Anyway, I have a talk about Kindness on Sunday. As I was studying theAtonement this week, I was also studying about how kind Christ was tobe able to do that for us. In three of the four Gospels, it mentionsChrist asking Heavenly Father to take the bitter cup from him. Irealized that I am sure our Saviour was completely overwhelmed andmaybe for the first time realized the full measure of what was beingasked of him. Personally, I would not want to suffer as the Book ofMormon says, "pains and temptations and afflictions of every kind" andI personally believe that Christ wasn't to fond of the idea as well. However, our loving and merciful Saviour suffered in the Garden ofGethsemane not just for me, but for every single person on this Earth;whether they choose to repent and come closer to him or not, he stillsuffered.I will forever be thankful for my Saviour. And I am so thankful that Iknow I am safe with my Saviour.I love you all and hope you have an itch-free week!Sister Lexie Rex Fisher305-8925 51 Ave. NWEdmonton, Alberta T6E 5J3CanadaPics&Vids1. Well, happy Independence Day to all my fellow American Friends.Have fun watching fireworks, eating hot dogs, watching The Sandlot andsinging the National Anthem. I'll be home for the next one, so see yathen. ;)Lemme tell you, Canadians tell us that we are too patriotic however Ido not think there is such a thing as too patriotic, I love America.Canada Day was great, spent a whole lotta time out in the community.Serving & talking to people all day long, except when everything gotrained out except the powwow however, we didn't go to the powwowbecause we didn't know what kind of crowd it would be. Turns out wetotally should have gone because everyone was talking about it.We seriously have been teaching all day everyday. Even when we arejust playing to go evaluate and update, someone from across the streetis like, "Hey, do you guys want to come and talk to me right now?" So,we do.Thursday was crazy!! We were on the reserve for probably 4 hours justteaching people. We had just gotten out of a lesson when a formerinvestigator from across the street literally yells, "Sisters! Come &talk to me before I do something crazy." So, we did.She had just come home from a funeral of three people and said, "I amdone with this."Just then, we hear her cat screaming so loud and we were like, "what the heck?"About 15 minutes later, her son comes breaking through the door, "Mom!Mom! Mom! Where does that cat expert live?! Where does she live?"Verda said, "Why what's wrong with Baby?" (That's the cats name)Liam says, "MOM, BABY IS HAVING KITTENS."Verda screams, "WHAT WHERE?!"Lol, this is literally in the middle of the lesson when all thishappened. So Verda went and told the whole townsite that she is agrandma! We were like, "I mean I guess so."HAHAHA, we literally witnessed two kittens being birthed. Weirdestexperience on my mission thus far.ANOTHER MIRACLE HAPPENED:Sunday we didn't have a supper appointment and it was fast Sunday. Andall we had was chicken, and we've been eating chicken all we long. Imean, goodness gracious I love chicken, but it gets boring after alittle while. So we had to call a member back & before we called her back I waslike, "I am praying that she says, 'Blah blah blah, anyway do you guyshave a supper appointment? Oh no! Well, we are having hamburgerlettuce wrapped tonight if you want to come over at 5:30?"Low and behold, miracles do happen. She said almost those exact words, and we ate hamburgers. I had my nice gluten free hamburger that waslettuce wrapped, might I just add that they were G O A L S. seriouslycutest couple in the ward. I love them, they are my friends now. :)also, yesterday she stopped by our home & gave me gluten free bananachocolate chip muffins, o my goodness.I was in Heaven. Since being diagnosed with Celiac Disease, I have nottasted of the deliciousness of baked goods. It tasted JUST LIKE aregular muffin. #blessingsOnBlessingsOnBlessingsI love the Saviour & I love you all! Also, the Atonement of Jesus Christ is so real. I have seen it in mylife and in the life of our investigators. I am so grateful for Christand that he was willing to suffer all manner of afflictions so that wemay trust him in all of our pains. He's real. He heals. He helps.Sister Lexie Rex Fisher305-8925 51 Ave. NWEdmonton, Alberta T6E 5J3CanadaPics:1. Oh Canada2. Ryan our investigator (lol, I look like a ding dong)3&4 The reserve squad5. Hello my friends,This week has been a week of miracles, a week of prayer, a week oftears. However, it has also felt like two days since I last emailed.Canada turns 150 years old this week, happy happy birthday to the truenorth, strong and freee!Again with miracles, sister Ard always says when we are in a crisis,"Sister Fisher, pray for a miracle because every time you do, ithappens."It's crazy.. because it happens. For example,Brother Anderson (single dad in the ward, his wife just recentlypassed away) called us to come help him out with handing out flyersfor the food drive that happened this last week; the only problem iswe had a lesson with a less active couple the same time as he wasasking to come help. We prayed about it and felt like going with Bro.Anderson was the best choice because he was just having a difficulttime. So we cancelled with the less actives, went to a lesson with ourinvestigator Ryan, and didn't think much about it. Long story short,Bro. Anderson cancelled on us by poking his head in the room weteaching him and says, "sister's I don't need help anymore."So by the time we finished with Ryan's lesson, we were like, "Welllet's see if they can still meet." Because they never text us back. Sowe text them and kinda wait for a little bit, but we either needed toteach a lesson or go to work, so we prayed & asked for a miracle thatwe would be able to either to hear back from her in a minute & teach alesson or be able to hear back & then go out to work. I kid you not,not even 30 seconds later we get a text back that confirmed we shouldgo out & work. And we found a new potential! Awesome!Another huge miracle we had this week was when we drove 30 minutes toa supper appointment that we had confirmed with... and she wasn'tthere.... awkward, well sister Ard and I are completely out of moneyfor the month and we were running low on food, so we decided tobasically get little by little what we had left, which was probablysomething like lettuce & gluten free rice crackers when she calls usand says meet me at No Frills (grocery store commonly found throughoutCanada). So we get to no frills and she proceeds to take us groceryshopping & at the end gives us another $40 dollars and says, "you needit more than me." I almost started crying. I was so happy to be ableto have a miracle like that because we were working our hearts out tofind people to bring people closer to the Saviour.Another tender mercy this week, we were once again out on the reservein the Montana band. And the reserve is funny because there is NOstreet signs, they just barely got house numbers, so you just have togo find people by directions. It's so hard. We are definitely notfamiliar with the Montana Band either! So that was a struggle tryingto find where our investigator moved to when the directions are:1. Go to the four way stop & turned left2. You will see a post office & drug store on the left, keep going.3. Then you will see a school keep going.4. Go to the second four way stop, turn right.5. The greyish brown house is where the (this is an actual last name)Standing On The Roads live.So after an hour or so of running up and down knocking on sketchyhouses, talking to children about where these people live; we decidedto go to the Samson Band, because that's where all our friends live.We had prayed for a miracle to happen because we know that thisinvestigator is so ready for the Gospel, & LOW & BEHOLD, LORI (theinvestigator we were trying to find) IS AT THE OTHER INVESTIGATORSHOUSE! Miracles I am telling you happen all of the time! It's funny how miracles work. Small things really do bring about greatthings, I love this work and I love the Lord.Sister Lexie Rex Fisher305-8925 51 Ave. NWEdmonton, Alberta T6E 5J3CanadaPics:1. NHS pride #supersenior2. Hello friends, family, people I love & care about,First, happy Father's Day to my old man! Love you dad! Seriously, thank you for everything you have done for me throughout my life. One of my favourite memories of my dad and I is when we drove toFarmington to get my new license and after I totally convinced you togo see Star Wars 7 at Farmington Station, so we ended up sitting inone of the very front rows. Anyway, I just walked in all happy to bethere with my dad watching Star Wars, and just reminiscing in the dayswhere I would open my presents and instead of a Barbie doll, I got aDarth Vader mask and a lightsaber that changed colours. Well, my dadbeing the observant man that he is sits down with eyes as big aquarters and says, "Lex, look who behind us."So I turn around and sitting there is President Dieter F. Uchtdorfwith his wife and family members. If I do remember right, he waswearing a sweater vest. And so instead of being focused on the moviethe the entire time, I was trying to listen to what President Uchtdorfsaid about every part in the movie.Love you dad, thanks for teaching me to trust in Heavenly Father. Thanks for teaching me what it means to work hard. Thanks for teachingme that I can do anything I want. I love you dad. Honestly, I would bea completely different person if it weren't for you. I remember youdoing your high kicks in the parking lot and yelling, "THIS IS MYDAUGHTER LEXIE! I AM HER DAD!!!" Holy goodness, no wonder I am soweird. It's okay though because after a few years of ducking inbetween cars in the parking lot while you were doing that, I learnedhow to embarrass you. So instead of you kicking your legs above yourhead in the parking lot, it was me, but in the actual grocery store. You trying to embarrass me really backfired on you didn't it?Thanks for being you, because we are the same. You little stubbornguy. I love you.Second, thanks for all the birthday wishes, I might not have time toreply to everyone, but I just want to say thank you. My 20th birthdaywas awesome, we celebrated by getting some free GF cheesecake atBoston Pizza. πThis week was great! We put 2 more people on date for baptism, and ourinvestigator Ryan has been sober for a whole week. :') He also startedwalking to church when his ride was a little bit late. He is amiracle. This week as I have been thinking about what I have learned in my 3701days on this earth, and I have learned a lot.. here is a little listof the most important things I have leavened thus far (not in order ofthe most important things):1. People are awesome. Every single one of us has different feelings, different styles, different opinions and that makes who we are.2. Jesus Christ is the Saviour & Redeemer of the world as well as ourelder brother. I am the oldest in my family, so I don't know what it'slike to have an older brother, but I know that Christ paid the pricefor all of our sins, pains, and heartaches. I know that becausesometimes I feel that no one understands the way I feel, but the way Ifeel when I read about the Saviour suffering in the Garden ofGethsemane is a feeling of comfort and of peace; that I know he isthere for me and that he can comfort me. He is the perfect olderbrother. I am thankful for that.3. We leave a memory with every single person that we meet. However,we choose whether it is good or bad.4. There is a God who loves us. It's that simple, look that the wayour bodies move, the way we are able to think and see, there is no waythat God didn't have a hand in this.5. Just be nice. People like nice people. So be nice.I have learned so many other things, but that is what I felt likesharing today.Love you all, have a great rest of the week.Sister Lexie Rex Fisher305-8925 51 Ave. NWEdmonton, Alberta T6E 5J3Canada1. 2-02.
