August 1, 2017 A testimony of the Book of Mormon

WOWOWOWOW. ITS AUGUST ALREADY?!
That's crazy to me!!

First. Shout out to my girl Holly Engel... I mean Wilde for tying the knot this weekend! Wish I could have been there, but I am still so happy for you!!  It feels like just yesterday was our first lesson with you, but that was almost a whole year ago! Crazy how time flies.

This week was great! We received TWO referrals from missionaries in Edmonton.

One of them was a lady named Gerri! GERRI LOOKED UP THE CHURCH IN THE YELLOW PAGES AND CALLED THE MISSION OFFICE. that never ever ever happens.
However, she lives on the res and after a socially uncomfortable incident happened at the res, we decided we weren't going to go to the townsite any more. But we told her we could meet in Subway, so we go there and keep in mind we have no clue what she looks like and we are trying to keep ourselves clear from anyone we know there. So we go in the Subway and it was just awkward because we have no clue where she is and then she doesn't end up showing up.

However the next day after church she calls us and says, "I'm in the hospital in Wetaskiwin with my sister. Do you think you could come give me some support?"
We were like, "alright!"
So we head over there and we decide to just bring some copies of the Book of Mormon. While we were there she asked us if we could read her some scriptures that would comfort her. Well, luckily I have been tagging my paper scriptures with scriptures about the Atonement and other topics like that, so I flipped to Mosiah 14:3-7 which says, "He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.  Surely he has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.  But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.  All we, like sheep, have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquities of us all.  He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb so he opened not his mouth." I'm not going to tell you why they were at the hospital, but I opened to a scripture that related to their situation very well.
While we found a member to take them to back to a women's shelter on the reserve, I marked as many scriptures as I possibly could that would relate to them in any way, shape, or form. I was pretty nervous the whole time we were driving back with them, but the Spirit comforted me and we got to teach her some of the Restoration. I have never felt the spirit so strong in a car before. I was able to tell them about the Prophet Joseph Smith and how, like Gerri, had a lot of questions too however when he came across the scriptures James 1:5, he pondered it in his heart. He then went to a grove of trees near his home and prayed out loud. As we were teaching Gerri, the spirit testified both to Gerri and myself that Joseph Smith really did see God the Father and Jesus Christ. God calls prophets for the benefit of his children. I know that is true. I also know that Christ is our elder brother and he really is our Saviour.

S/O to sister Rees in Idaho for putting this Mormon message into her email because it's awesome.

I highly recommend that you all watch it. :)

That's all I have got for today!

Oh, btws you will probably see me on Facebook this week because our blessed mission gets the privilege having it.  If you want to get in contact with me, email me. ;) please don't message me. It'll get awkward.
